Christmas is my favorite. My favorite everything. One of the best things about it is being with family. We tried to find a way to get up to New York to be with my parents for Christmas, but it just wasn't going to work out, with Andrew's work schedule and financially. Our car is also not the most reliable thing around either. So I was pretty upset that I wouldn't be able to be with any of my family members for Christmas, and this is the first time in my whole life I've never been with some of my own family for Christmas. But we did get to spend Christmas day with Andrew's parents. And we ate a delicious Christmas dinner. We had a lot of fun together, even though it was a really different experience for me. Just the two of us and a crazy cat tearing apart our presents :)
Piper played in the all the torn up wrapping paper all day long. She was so tired that night!
This picture is from Christmas Eve. We watched a Christmas movie and drank some hot chocolate with mini marshmallows!
Christmas Day was also the day that we told all of our family members that we have a little Brandt on the way! Hooray! One of Andrew's brothers thought we were having twins because there's two little stockings... but don't be fooled. One's for the cat, who thoroughly enjoyed the soft food treats we stuffed in her stocking :)
The next day our our good friends Megan and Joey stopped by on their way home from their Christmas travels. I was so happy to see Meggles! We also lived together for quite a few years and I loved every second of it!
They had brought their cat Marley along for the trip, so I was interested to see how her and Piper would get along.
They didn't exactly hate each other... but the hissing here and there made it pretty clear they weren't ready to be best friends. Not yet anyway. I still have hope.
I just love my Meggles.
After Christmas we headed up to Pennsylvania with Andrew's parents to his grandmother's funeral. Although it was a sad time it was also great to spend time with almost all of Andrew's siblings and their families. Not much longer after my father-in-law had a heart attack and was in the hospital for a few days. So there were a lot of stressful things happening around the holidays: a new cat, a funeral, a heart attack scare, a baby growing inside me, softball starting soon, and then New Year's Eve day I woke up with a nasty 24 hour flu. And I probably wasn't even the one feeling the most stressed! Goodness.
Everything worked out though, and despite the scary, sad things the holidays were fun and a good time to focus on the Savior. I really don't have anything I can complain about.
So I think 2013 will be a good year, with a lot of changes to come. Andrew and I can't wait :)
