I know that so many people always say how much they love food, and how much they love to eat good food. It seems like somewhat of a petty thing to love food and to announce this love to the world, when there are so many that go without. But partly because of this, I am very thankful I live in a place where we, as a people, can have so much, even if it is "just" food.
I am alone most of the day. Mister Brandt works quite a bit at a great job, which we both are very thankful for. I also have a job. It's a part-time job with the athletic department at the nearby college both of us recently graduated from. It's definitely not a tough job; I basically watch sports a couple times a week and make sure the score is right on the scoreboard (it's more difficult than that, but it's a GREAT job and so much fun for those who love sports). Anyways, it's not like I have a regularly scheduled job to keep me busy.
As I'm home alone, I need to find things to do. And that is one reason I am so thankful for food. I find a lot of joy searching for recipes of all kinds for foods to make. Maybe it isn't a perfect use of my time, but my knowledge of cooking and baking is growing, as well as my knowledge about the tastes and nutrition of foods. And THAT, I feel, is NOT a waste of my time. I may not have the means to make every single recipe I find, but I am very thankful for the foods and ingredients I do have that allow me to keep my family and I healthy and full. I also love that we can brighten our lives with delicious and new flavors.
I know I am not an expert or professional, and there are many so much more qualified than I ever will be. But I won't let that scare me anymore. I just want to cook.
So, if all of my blog posts are about food and all of the pictures you see are of food, you know why.
:)
I'm loving all of this Mal. :) I think cooking is a great idea--its what I do to fill my days!
